The idea with a job search is to get your resume in front of the right employer, with the right position, the right salary, the right hours, and the right everything for you. Rarely will this happen if you just put out a couple of resumes or if you just use an online search. Combine as many methods as you can and apply for jobs that you don't completely qualify for so that you can get as many resumes out there as possible. This will give you the best chance to land that perfect job.
When searching online you can go further than just job search sites. You can use the local search on Yahoo.com to find local businesses in your field. Send them all a resume. You never know who might be hiring and has just not placed the employment ad yet or might not ever advertise for employment because they have a stack of resumes as tall as the ceiling, but if yours is not in them, then you will not have any chance at finding a job with them. Doing an online job search is a great way to find a job, but don't forget about all other methods that are available for you to use while searching for a job. Combine all the methods and get the best results possible. |
